Legal Workshops #1

Contract Review

When: Every month

Where: online

Total Duration: 8 to 10 hours (4 weeks)

Program: 2 hours per week

- workshop/course: 2 hours on Tuesdays

- 2 optional Q&A sessions: 30 minutes

We will create a toolkit to facilitate contract review, learn how to open/read contracts in a variety of formats (word, pdf, image) and create a birds-eye view: clauses, what they contain, dates, monetary amounts, summary of each clause, ...

 

Exporting Insights: we will format the insights in a form that is truly useful and communicate the insights effectively. 

​

Workflow automation: we will put this toolkit in production, to reuse it on any new contract review project.

​

While doing this, participants will learn to translate their business requirements into machine executable instructions with the R language, learn and apply Natural Language Processing methods, use regular expressions, leverage powerful libraries to export their insights in a professional fashion.

SCHEDULE: 

​

- Preparation course: we recorded a course for you to get prepared before the workshop, from installing your work environment to your first steps with the R language. This is a free course that you should complete before the first live workshop. The whole introduction course should take under two hours.

- Four workshops of 2 hours, generally each Tuesday

Data Room

When: Every month, starting June 2024

Where: online

We will create a lightweight version of a data room. Although it does not replace what software vendors put out there, it will get you a long way to gain instant insights into a large file/data dump.  

​

List and create plots & insights of all files, how they are organized, make them searchable. 

There will be a large variety of creative visualizations where learners will contribute their experience and business needs.

 

We will dabble further in NLP (Natural Language Processing) to see what files and folders names tell us. 

​

Finally, we will start plugging in the previous toolkit that allows us to ingest documents, read the content and extract insights. â€‹

  • PII detection [GDPR]: extract all sensitive information from a collection of documents

  • Compliance, request-to-delete: automate the largest part of the process for the DPO, days of work cut down to a few seconds only
